Mirror Frame
This mirror frame, one of two gilded for an interior designer's client in Colorado, was primed and base painted, then gilded with schlagmetal three times before being protected with a coat of oil-based varnish. The frames were finished with a coat of wax buffed up to a high sheen. As a sense of opulence and richness was desired, without the expense of using real gold, the difference was made up in labor.
